- 7oz flour, by weight
- 4oz butter
- 4oz sugar, brown
- lemon, separate zest and juice
- 5 apples
- Put oven to 180˚C, (about 350˚F).
- Sift flour, and coat butter with flour. Knead with fingertips until it is sandy in appearance.
- Mix in sugar and lemon zest to flour mix until well incorporated. Set aside.
- Peel, core, and cut apple into bite-size pieces. Toss with some lemon juice to prevent browning.
- In separate pot, cover and boil apple pieces in water until tender, but not necessarily mushy. Drain.
- On bottom of oven safe dish, spread apples, season with pinch of salt, any remaining lemon juice, and sprinkle crumble topping evenly on top. Put dish into oven on top rack, for 20-25 minutes.
- Let cool slightly and enjoy!
